Russian govt approves 70 bln rbl devt program for Kuril Islands
MOSCOW, Aug 10 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has approved an almost 70 billion ruble socioeconomic development program for the Kuril Islands for 2016–2025, the government said on its Web site on Monday.
The program encompasses construction of 123,000 square meters of housing and social infrastructure facilities, as well as passenger and cargo vessel provision, and modernization of four ports.
Among other goals, the program is aimed at lifting infrastructure restrictions for economic development and improving the quality of life on the islands, as well as creating conditions for the development of resource processing facilities with the use of modern technologies.
